Abstract

Betel leaf (Piper betle (L)) contains several active ingredients that are antibacterial, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory. This community service activity aims to provide training on making antibacterial soap from betel leaf extract. The activity was carried out in hamlet IV, Tanjung Seteko village, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir. The target audience was 38 people, namely female and young women. Activities were carried out by providing counselling on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, training on antibacterial soap from betel leaf extract, and evaluating the product and community responses. The antibacterial soap product is solid, transparent, and has an average pH of 9.6. The evaluation results showed that more than 75% of the target audience can understand the benefits of antibacterial soap and how to make it properly. The target audience likes antibacterial soap product in terms of aroma, shape, colour, and comfort when used. As many as 84.21% of the target audience are interested in making this antibacterial soap, and as many as 100% of the target audience stated that this activity is beneficial.
