Efforts to Develop Mangrove Ecotourism Through the Active Role of The Community in Sungsang IV Village, Banyuasin II District, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra

Abstract

The mangrove ecosystem in Sungsang IV Village can be an alternative tourist destination in this village. Mangrove ecosystems have the potential to be developed into tourist destinations in improving community welfare because they have their own uniqueness and peculiarities such as their distinctive root forms and various types of fauna associated with mangrove ecosystems such as various types of birds, snakes, monitor lizards, shrimps, fish, mollusks, and crabs. This activity aims to increase public knowledge about the potential of mangrove ecosystems as an alternative to ecotourism in Sungsang IV Village. This activity is expected to provide benefits to the community and the academic community of Marine Science FMIPA Unsri to support the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program through integrated service activities (Lectures and Practical Work / Thesis). As a result of this activity, the audience welcomed and enthusiastically participated in the activity. The results of the pretest and posttest showed that participants could understand well the material presented.
