Increasing Teachers Skills in Management of Water Ecosystems in Tanjung Batu Seberang Village, Ogan Ilir Regency

Abstract

The feasibility of a waters as a living environment for aquatic organisms is influenced by the physico-chemical properties (abiotic factors) of the waters themselves. The people of Tanjung Batu Seberang Village have very little understanding and knowledge about the management of aquatic ecosystems in order to maintain water quality and the preservation of the organisms that live in them. This service activity with an integrated scheme aims to increase public knowledge, especially SIT teachers Astri Al Ikhlas and other teachers in Tanjung Batu Seberang Village about the management of aquatic ecosystems. The method used in this service is counseling to teachers and followed by training activities on the use of water quality measuring devices guided by lecturers and students who are integrated with practicum activities for the Aquatic Ecology Course and Student Practical Work activities. The first stage is the delivery of material, discussions and questions and answers, and demonstration of water quality measurement tools. The targets in this activity are SIT Astri Al Ikhlas teachers and teachers from surrounding schools who are part of the Tanjung Batu Village community and Marine Science students. As a result of this activity, the audience welcomed and enthusiastically participated in the activity. The results of the pretest and posttest showed that participants could understand well the material presented.
