Preparation of Ethanol Extract Cream of Kunyit (Curcuma longa Linn.) to Preventive of Acne

Abstract

Turmeric (Curcuma longa Linn.) is a traditional medicinal which contains curcumin which is active as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. The use of turmeric as an acne remedy can be prepared in the form of cream preparations. Th e aims of activity to educate the public about the use of turmeric in the treatment of acne and to introduce how to make turmeric cream preparations as an acne medicine. This activity was carried out in the village of Tanjung Pering Indralaya Utara Ogan Ilir.  This activity was carried out by educating the public about acne, the use of acne medicine, the using of turmeric, how to make kunyit cream, as well as scientific information that supports its traditional use. The results of the activity show that the community is familiar with kunyit and uses it for facial treatments in the form of masks.  The community felt that making cream was very simple and the community liked the products. The community gives an assessment that the cream made in terms of texture, convenience, and packaging  is good. This activity has increased community knowledge in dealing with skin problems and can use kunyit cream in the treatment of acne.
